The sense of purpose with which the Pakistani
Society (PakNUS) has conducted itself is
commendable. The Society was born out of a
burgeoning desire for Pakistanis to connect and
have a sense of belonging in a university as
grand and diverse as NUS. It was officially
founded in 2005, and within two years it has
made for itself a proud history and an
optimistic future. The society engages the
student community on many levels, it has a
personal approach to encourage new comers
settling into university life, followed by
helping students stay connected while in their
middle years of university and onto the
responsible higher years.
The affairs of the society are conducted by an
Executive Committee elected annually, but its
true essence lies in the Pakistani community in
NUS and Singapore at large. PakNUS has a proud
history of making the 'Pakistan Mark' on campus
by participating in Sporting and Cultural events
in NUS and even going further by taking
initiatives in organising and hosting events for
the first time in the universities history. The
vibrancy of the society and the community it
represents becomes apparent in all events hosted
or participated in by the society.
The society is at the beginning of a new chapter
in its young history, it now seeks to actively
bring together the various communities in NUS by
organising meaningful events for more open and
interactive participation by all. This will be
done to encourage, in university, an all
inclusive culture of common good and success
regardless of nationality and background.
As you browse around the website you will see
for yourself the efforts and achievements of the
society. The approach of PakNUS has the same
theme as most Pakistanis, which is of
Performance and Achievement with a sense of Care
and Respect for All.
